No, I was not around for the Declaration of Independence

Writer? Yes, but prefer Strategic Communications Professional

My mother doesn't really know much about what I do for a living but she knows I can write. So that part is correct. In addition to the 'my son the writer role, I'm also a strategic communicator with extensive experience in digital, video, social media, email, web, copywriting, sales enablement, field marketing, executive communications, advertising, and team leadership and mentorship. I like to create and especially enjoy translating complex concepts into effective pieces on a variety of channels.

During my career, I've developed speeches, press conference talking points, prebill legislation, press releases, research reports, legislative summaries, marketing collateral, NCAA basketball and soccer game recaps, social media posts, long and short-form video scripts, landing pages, posters, t-shirts, hand-outs, sales playbooks, infographics, e-books, a eulogy, a novella, SEO and AEO guides, e-books, white papers, newsletters (print and digital), pitch decks, catalog copy, banner, signage, inserts, chotchke giveaways and accompanying copy, elevator/airport/diamond vision commercials, animated mascots, blog posts, brochures, flyers, gift boxes, direct mail and political campaign materials. I'm continually involved in leading strategic change, branding, campaigning, content creation, vendor management, trend-spotting, internal consensus building, coaching and project management. A doer by nature, I've learned personnel management after being blessed with some terrific mentors.

So Mom is correct. I write. Why? Because in the hearts of the best strategic communicators there is a passion to connect, create and yes write.

Quick take on my background: I have more than 20 years of experience in strategic communications which includes leadership roles in marketing, digital and sales enablement. I reside in Chapel Hill, NC with my beautiful wife, 4 kids (although most are launching) and two tiny dogs. My professional interests are tied to my earliest experiences in the work force as both a professional services marketer and an education-industry public relations and agency professional.

“You can make anything by writing.”
